FAQ

Get answers to common questions about our asphalt construction, commercial paving services, project timelines, and what to expect when you work with Baldwin Paving.

Why is asphalt the best choice for Atlanta’s climate?

Asphalt handles Georgia's temperature swings, heavy rainfall, and occasional freezes better than most alternatives. It drains efficiently during Atlanta's heavy rain events, flexes without cracking through seasonal temperature changes, and when it does show wear, it can be resurfaced rather than fully replaced, making it the smartest long-term investment for Georgia properties.

How long does a new asphalt parking lot last in Georgia?

A properly installed asphalt parking lot in Georgia typically lasts 20 to 30 years with routine maintenance. Mix design, base preparation, drainage, and compaction all play critical roles in longevity. With Baldwin Paving's vertical integration, we control mix design from our own plants to ensure our materials meet the demands of outdoor conditions.

What is the best time of year for paving in Atlanta?

The ideal paving window in Metro Atlanta runs from spring through early fall, when temperatures are consistently above 50°F, which is required for proper compaction. That said, Atlanta's mild winters often allow year-round paving with proper planning. Baldwin Paving's team has the experience to manage seasonal conditions and maintain quality regardless of your project timeline.

Are you a licensed and insured asphalt contractor in Atlanta?

Yes. Baldwin Paving is fully licensed, insured, and E-Verify compliant throughout Metro Atlanta and Georgia. We carry comprehensive liability insurance and workers' compensation on every project, and our consistently low EMR safety score reflects one of the industry's strongest safety records.

How much does asphalt paving cost per square yard in Atlanta?

Commercial asphalt paving prices in Atlanta typically vary depending on project size, site conditions, base preparation, and current material prices. Baldwin Paving's ownership of two liquid asphalt terminals helps stabilize our material costs, allowing more consistent pricing than contractors who rely entirely on outside suppliers. The best way to get an accurate number is to request a detailed estimate.

Do you offer free estimates for commercial projects?

Yes. Baldwin Paving provides free estimates for commercial paving projects throughout Metro Atlanta and Georgia. We review your project scope, assess site conditions, and provide a detailed proposal covering work, materials, and timeline. Reach out through our contact page or call us directly, and we'll get in touch with you within 48 hours.

Where are your asphalt plants located?

Baldwin Paving operates nine asphalt plants across Metro Atlanta and throughout Georgia, including locations in Marietta, GA, ATL/Clayton Co., Douglasville, GA, Auburn/Barrow Co., GA, Cumming, GA, Newnan, GA, Kennesaw, GA, Ball Ground/Cherokee Co., GA, and Gainesville, GA.
